Digital Photography Courses and Workshops for Beginner and Intermediate Levels

Please choose the course that you would like to join from the list below.  Prices and dates for courses are shown underneath each course title.  After you have chosen your course, click on the Buy It Now button in order to pay a £10.00 deposit via Paypal in order to secure your place.  You will then be contacted within 24 – 48 hours to discuss availability and to discuss your preferred date for attendance.

1. Basic Photography Course (Compact Camera system) (classroom only – includes light refreshments)

The Course

9.30 – 12.30 (day time course)  17.30 – 20.30 (evening course)

The course starts with coffee and hello’s. We limit this course to a maximum of four people to ensure that everyone the opportunity for personal advice and tuition.

The class will cover basic photography techniques for landscapes, portraits, pet portraits, action shots and close-up (macro) photography.

Learn basic computer skills of how to download images onto your PC and apply basic imaging techniques.

2. DSLR Digital Photography Foundation Course Number 1 (DSLR / Bridge Camera - classroom & field based course – includes light refreshments)

The Course

10.30 – 2.30 ( longer if required)

The course starts with coffee and hello’s. We limit this course to a maximum of four people to ensure that everyone the opportunity for personal advice and tuition. We find that smaller groups work better and allow students to get the most from the courses.

This course begins in the classroom with an assessment of your camera and its settings to ensure that it is matched to you and your requirements for the type of photography that you are interested in taking.

Learn the fundamentals of the digital SLR camera and gain the confidence to make the move from the Auto setting. This course explains about the AV, (Aperture Priority),  S or TV, (Shutter Priority)  P (Program) & Full Manual settings along with an overview of the ISO and White Balance settings.

The second half of the course is out in the field. We are based within the grounds of Melbourne Hall and you can put into practice the techniques that you’ve learnt in the morning in the beautiful surroundings of Melbourne with ample opportunities for landscape and wildlife pictures.

3. DSLR Functions Course Number 2 (DSLR / Bridge Camera - classroom & field based course – includes light refreshments).

The Course

The course starts with coffee and hello’s. We limit this course to a maximum of four people to ensure that everyone the opportunity for personal advice and tuition. We find that smaller groups work better and allow students to get the most from the courses.

This course begins in the classroom with an assessment of your camera and its settings to ensure that it is matched to you and your requirements. We then carry out a short re cap of the parts covered by the first course to ensure that everyone is comfortable with the basics before entering into some of the more in depth digital SLR camera functions which include TTL Metering, Multiple Shot settings, White Balance, Histograms, Fill in Flash, Settings and equipment advice for effects (Landscape, Sports / Action, Portraits etc…) and general good practice to improve your pictures (Picture Composition,  Depth of Field,  Lead In Lines etc.).

Learn effective composition and exposure techniques to create strong images and how to analyze what goes into your shot and achieve photos with impact and interest.

4. Photoshop Elements Course (Classroom based)

Cost: £65.00

Dates: You will be contacted within 24 – 48 hours to offer you a range of available dates.

The Course

The course starts with coffee and hello’s. We limit this course to a maximum of three people to ensure that everyone the opportunity for personal advice and tuition. We find that smaller groups work better and allow students to get the most from the courses especially with Photoshop tuition.

The Photoshop course covers a full overview of Photoshop Elements and covers the following aspects :

  • Learn how to download pictures from your camera directly into Elements.
  • Sort and store your pictures with the ability to easily find and access your pictures without having to search. Elements allows you to organise your pictures in categories and sub categories together with TABS to assist location.
  • Learn the basic functions of the tools within the Tools Pallet.
  • The course modules are designed to teach you how to carry out many of the basic manipulation operations such as straighten horizons, crop pictures to designated ratio’s, dodge & burn, sharpen, convert colour to B&W, use Layers to adjust colours, Levels etc……. Clone and Heal to remove unwanted items or people from pictures.

The course is classroom based and lap tops can be supplied if required. Light refreshments are supplied.
